Last night i help Tony install some new UPR dbl adjustable upper and lower control arms, Lakewood Shocks (Fox Body), and Fox body springs, on his 2000 GT. I have Fox Body springs on my 2003 GT and it sits about 1-1.25" lower than stock with a half coil cut (including the dead coil). He cut the same and when we put the car down, we couldn't get the jack from out underneath the car it was so damn ghetto low! WTF?! Why did it go so damn low? :dunno: He got the Springs from Pep Boys by the way. When he showed me the coils he cut, i noticed the spring had the same thickness from top to bottom, not a real flat linguini pasta like coil that was on my Springs which were OEM right of a `90 GT. I guess that made all the difference. i feel bad because i told him over the phone to cut it like that, thinking they were identical to mine. But now i'm wondering if my car would sit that low, but isn't because my shock is bottoming out? But it's only 1/4" lower than a Cobra/Mach 1. We also ran into problems with the shocks, we couldn't get the stock dust cover off the old shocks, so we installed them without any:( I felt bad that the complete install didn't go exactly smooth. Can you guys help a brother out? Does anyone have a set of Fox Body (V8) Springs for sale, i made Tony waste $70 by cutting the springs he bought:( Plus, any one have dust covers for shocks laying around for sale too? Thanx!

FWIW, cutting springs isn't the best idea, it weakens the temper of the springs and can make them sag...

it was not his fault at all, I was in such a damn hurry I was not paying eough att. to the springs and did not notice there is no dead coils of those. so I really cut about 1.5 coils off both, dropping the car about 3.5 in.

Greg,

I know this as well, but it is what most of the mod motor guys do to get the rear to about the same height as the front with still have a good spring for launching. With most of us using the 4cyl front springs which lower the front it gives a very bad rake look

The only thing I like about baseball is watching it is a fast way for me to fall asleep
