Are any of you guys running Air/Fuel ratio gauges?

If so what brand gauge are you running?

Thanks

Don't bother with the Autometer one, its just a light show. Only one for actual useful data would be a wideband O2 and display.

If you are talking about the Autometer "disco ball" gauge as they are refered to I have one. JUNK!!!!!! I know a few people who have the old Moroso and Holley units with a narrow band O2 as well. JUNK!!!!!

I bought the Autometer one before I found out about narrow and wide band O2 sensors. (Do a search and see why a narrow band is not accurate except around 14.7:1.) Using them with a factory O2 sensor will do you almost no good. They can be modified to work with a wide band sendor but at that point and cost you can get a cheap wide band kit.

I bought one of the EFI Systems wide band kit with the display when they first came out. It is great. There are a few kits out there now that are cheaper and can even data log in some cases. Look into those if you are looking for something real accurate.

Yeah I had an Autometer one and it just distracted me while driving with the flashing lights

Mine actually was a great help. Not for tuning the a/f, but let me know the 02s were not working correctly. I had longtubes on, and started getting the CEL in cold weather. From looking at the gauge, I could tell that the sensors were not getting hot enough to read correctly. I have the Nordskog(like Cyberdyne), and it only has 10 lights. I am probably replacing it with an Autometer I have sitting around, as it has 20. All it does is measure voltage. I also have a innovate wideband I'm going to connect to it with a switch so I can switch between the stock sensors(to see if they are working), and the wideband(as it's easier to see the colors than check the numbers)so it will be accurate. :thumbs_up
If you don't want a wideband, maybe you can look at an EGT gauge. Probably more accurate to tune with.

I have an autometer and long tubes as well. The display is bizarre. For example, at idle, the ratio is so messed up ( too much fuel pressure ) that in the garage after 30 seconds of idling, my eyes simply leap from my skull and roll outside to avoid the fumes. Anyhow, the autometer says that's really a lean condition. Above about 2000 rpm, things stabilize somewhat. On the freeway, the thing flip-flops between ultra lean and super rich.

Does this mean my O2's are shite?

My car was sooooo rich under boost I would have wierd readings as well during cruising speeds. The o2's were so fouled they read all messed up. (Right Joel, He exchanged about six pair for me lol) They would read the exact opposite of my wideband. A real rich condition will kill o2's.

The gauge should jump around lean to rich when cruising at a constant speed and throttle position. That is the computer trying to get as close to its pre-set values as possable. So it adds and subtracts fuel to do that.

Does this mean my O2's are shite? It is fairly normal for the car to stink like gas if you don't have any cats on it. It shouldn't if you do. The gauge is supposed to bounce around a little while cruising as the computer tries to keep the a/f leaner around 14.7 I have found with my wideband. I don't know how well the autometer gauge works, but it shouldn't bounce around that much. If the O2s are in question, just replace them. I put a new set in mine and it drove a little better. My main problem is that the 02s weren't getting hot enough to even read anything. It helps if you have the headers ceramic coated or wrapped.

I had one, A friend gave it to me so I sold it on Ebay

I am looking at getting the WMS wideband setup in the future

I have the hookup for the Innovate widebands....... thats what I'm going with.
Hookup on the price? or hook up to some other tuning tool? :D The lowest I've seen them for is $330. The new ones look pretty cool in black though. I think I'm going to spray paint mine. :thumbs_up

Right Joel, He exchanged about six pair for me lol

Good thing you get the lifetime NAPA warranty :p You could smell the gas in em. But anywho I picked up an Pyro gauge for cheap used so i am gonna use that.
