well im getting close to changing my oil. Im 126400 and i gonna be changing it within 1k miles. my question is would it be more harmful to use synthetic oil on my car or would I be better off just using conventional oil. I really want to keep the motor running strong for as long as i can so im hoping if i can change to syn. oil that i would be helping prolong its life. give me advice on what you guys think i should do.
High mileage usually stays with a good conventional.
Regular oil & filter changes will keep the motor happy.

I'd put the good stuff in, but that's just me. I bought my SHO used with 68,000 miles & use Mobile 1. I have no idea what the previous owner used for oil. It now has a 135,000 rounds & is like new with the valve covers off. :D
I only said that since he has 124k on the ticker.

Id stick with conventional and change it and the filter every 3,000 religously.

I would stick with the regular oil, just because over a period of time the gaskets can get pin holes in them and with the syntec it will find those small holes and start a leak and by switching back to the old stuff won't work.. I used to work in the auto parts business for 8+ years so I saw it happen all the time.. If the car had less than 50k on the clock then do it, but with those miles, unless you fell like swaping gaskets keep the regular oil..

I tried synthetic in my stang at 8x,xxx miles and that's what happened. :bash: I just use $2 synthetic blend in all my cars now. It's not worth the $5 a quart IMO if you change the oil on a regular basis like you should. And anything close to 100,000 miles I would never use it. It's time to start looking at that high milage oil instead lol.

Curt I already told you a few days ago to keep running what I was. 5w30 valvoline maxlife dino oil, not synthetic. Odds are the car never was on synthetic, so switching to syn. now can potentially cause leaks.
