View Full Version : Magnaflow
Ordered a Magnaflow Catted-X and a Catback. Got a REALLY GOOD price on them from www.completeexhaust.com. Saved hundreds.
Well, they arrived today. I went to see "Oklahoma" with the kids at their school and didnt get home until 10pm.
Opened the boxes. Is there anything more beautiful than mandrel bent stainless steel. I think not.
Sooo..... up goes the cobra and yours truly under it on a creeper.
As of now, 2:12AM the stock cat back and half of the stock H-pipe are loose.
I WILL hear the Magnaflows before morning.
I will update this thread as he project continues. I hope that I won't run out of beer......
OK. The stock exhaust is out. Unfortunately I broke off one of the bolts from the manifold. @#%^@$%^%$. I have to see if I can recover from that fumble.
The Magnaflow X-Pipe is in. The bolt that snapped still had enough threads to put a new bold on it.
DONE. Sounds sweet. Have to go to bed now.

Talk about your play-by play! :D
Just a tip for anyone else doing this kind of job: if you put a little penetrant on the flange bolts the night before you do the work, everything will come apart nice and easy. Patience, Grasshopper....!
Congrats.
Finesse always wins over the BFH. :D

hey jari..thats kinda funny. i just put magnaflow catback on my car too.. i love it. imo i dont think there is a better system out.
Took the car out for a drive today. At part throttle it isn't much louder than stock, but at WOT it sounds just evil. Just the way I want it:)
I will dyno it next week to see if it gave me any more power.
The UPS guy is bringing in new stuff almost every day. Snow or no snow, the winter is over in my garage!
Nate, how's the engine rebuild going?

Congrats on the new exhaust. And thanks for the play by play, made me chuckle to myself:)
Thanks. There will be lots of unintended humor for all of you to enjoy in the near future.
I have Eibach springs, DiabloSport Predator, Steeda shifter, MAC CAI, IRS bushings, IRS cross brace, y2k Cobra R wheels with some bad ass rubber, camber caster plates, spring dampeners, G-Tech, wheel spacers for the rear waiting to be installed .......for now......
I will post play by play stories of the installations and then dyno and GLD results.
It'll be fun. I haven't worked on a car in twenty years. So, enjoy!!!!

oh crap..sorry i didnt see you replied jari. i have to say. my exhaust is quiet at a stop also. however..when that light turns green, saddle up baby cuz im gonna take you for a ride. that is the most impressive exhaust to me. i am suprised that those mufflers can put out sound like that being so quiet until hard acceleration. wow! i am happy. i think im going to dump my bassani xpipe w/ cats and get an offroad xpipe. umm..the engine building is going ok. i didnt realize i had to take my old keyway off the old crankshaft and the parts guy failed to do me a favor and give me a pointer on that. so i am stuck fiddling around getting lil stupid odds and ends trying to finish it. i also seemed to misplace the connecting rod nuts. those suck too, almost 10 bux a pop for those and i need 5 of em.. i think i accidentally swept them up for whatever reason. ohh well..i should be done this weekend. well..there is my post
