I bought a new gauge pod for my boost gauge. The new pod required me to cut the studs off the back of the gauge, so I did that. When I turned the gauge back around, I noticed it was reading 2lbs of boost where as before the needle always sat at 0.

My question is this, can the gauge be re-cal'd? Once I get vacuum on it, will it reset itself or something? Or do I have to buy a new one? It is less than a year old, is there a warranty on these things?

thanks.

I dont think they will warranty it since you cut the studs off the back. a new one is around 60 bucks.

The new gauge pod I bought was an Autometer product that required me to cut the studs off the back for it to fit.

The Autometer instructions said it was required...hmm

How did you cut the studs off? Did you use a something that doesn't vibrate much like a cut off wheel? Or did you use a vibration nightmare like a sawzall?

Autometer boost gauges aren't the most accurate thing in the world to begin with. My friends came brand new reading 3psi. The common cure for fixing them is to push a pencil or something similar in through the light socket hole and push on the spring until it adjusts. I'm not joking either. :thud: I had an autometer fuel gauge that is adjusted by tightening the stud on the gauge. It pushes on the spring inside to adjust it.

I used a dremel. I emailed autometer, we'll see what happens.

Anyone else have this happen to them?
