Damn diff. drain plug will not come out!

I just took off the girdle on the rear diff to drain the fluid (there was no LSD additives added when last done, that's why there is a humming). Cleaned off the gears and got most of the fluid out. Now...the drain plug is not wanting to come out no matter what I do. 3/8" extension is needed because my 3/8" ratchet is too damn long handle wise to fit in that tight space where the plug is. The thing wont budge! I keep stripping it so I stopped for the night. How can I get this thing out? Do I need a shorter handled 3/8" drive?

you should be able to get it out with that extention. maybe have a friend brace the extention while you crank on it.

spray some lube on it too.

A little heat applied from a small torch usually helps. It shouldn't take too much.

I usually have to heat up the 5th/reverse fork bolt on the side of the T5's when I want to remove it for the rebuilding process.

You should be able to get at it with a 3/8 extension. But like when my oil drain plug got stripped in the pan you have to use like a little pry bar or a screwdriver to pry up at the plug while you unscrew the plug. And if that doesn't work try applying heat to the plug.

Use a torch and then a 3/8 ratchet with a 3" extension if you have to

Just in case it's 'starting' to strip/turn inside, I like to use either valve grinding compound, (available at any auto parts store, well, most), or tarter control toothpaste as a 'gripping' compound to alleviate the chance of 'strippage'.
Also, for a FYI, the fill/ plug, is NOT a 3/8. That is close, but there is a special socket that fits it exactly. GRanted, depending on how many miles/care, etc, will add to the 'fitment quality, (road debris/rust, etc, etc, etc), but they can sometimes be a bear.
