Hey Guys,
We are in the process of rebuilding my Big Block for my Fairmont. I am interested in adding a Cheater System to the combination at some point. I will probably only run a 150 shot but need some specifics on parts. Do I need special rings and bearings for an N20 application? The bottom end is running ARP Bolts and other good parts. The pistons are TRW Forged. Any insight would be appreciated as we are in the early stages of rebuilding. Someone we know told me that you can put 150 on anything, but I would rather not rebuild this motor again this year.

The only thing special you would have to do is open up the ring end-gaps a bit. I don't know what end gap to run for nitrous, but I'm sure somebody else here can help you out with that...

I always use rings and bearings in my engines. Even if they don't need them.........

Thanks for the advice. For now the nitrous application will be limited to 150 horse. Have a great weekend...

Thanks,
I am in the process of purchasing Speed Pro Rings and Federal Mogul bearings, especially after the wonderful advice that BBATCO1 had to offer.... LOL
Hey, you don't happen to work for Musco Lighting do ya? The company I work for supplies labels to them. I have spent some time in your area. Small world.

Personally.....I'd go a little looser than 0.005" per inch of bore.....like around 0.006 - 0.0065. I'll venture to guess that after you try the 150 jets the 250 will follow shortly there after.
Speed Pro makes a good ring. I had good luck shooting up to 300-350HP on Child's and Albert's Duramoly rings. Just remember.....too much gap is better than too little.

I've been working 12+ hours a day. The new job has me INCREDIBLY busy......i just don't have a lot of time to be on the computer much any more.
I would consider a 150 and less shot moderate. Personally, i'd give up 5-10 motor HP and run the rings a little more loose knowing that you could hit it with 250-300 in the future, but that's just me. As you know, it all depends on the intended usage. I think i told you to go with 0.005 because you said you weren't going to hit it very hard.
As far as my 05 goes, I saw the car for the first time when i was at Zimmerman's for Jay Allen's camshaft seminar on Easter weekend. I know nobody from here went....and they really missed out!!! The 2nd installment of the build of my car should be coming out on Hardcore in a few weeks. I took a bunch of pictures but the flash on the camera didn't work so only a couple turned out. I've got a good one of my new heads that i'll try to post if i ever get the time to scan it. I will say this, you're gonna start hearing a lot about Blue Thunder in the near future. ET Perfomance had a bunch of stuff on display at the seminar. Of particular interest was a couple bolt together intakes that can be fully CNC ported....and are they TRICK! They also had a set of their 4.3 Series small block (AKA Neal or Yates SC1 equivalent) and Thor big block heads at the show. Both are nothing short of incredible. This is public knowledge so i have no problem say it.....the set of BT Thor BBF heads i just picked up have 470 CC intake ports, 2.520 intake valves, and flow 585 CFM on the intake and 405 on the exhuast with no pipe! I'm thinking we'll have no problem making as much on motor as i used to on 2 stages. Their small block heads go 450 CFM with a 300 CC intake port. To put that into perspective, my Neals used to go 407 with a 311CC port. More air....smaller port.....draw your own conclusion. They have a couple of big inch nitrous windsors making 900HP n/a right now. With two fours you could make 1000HP with these heads. As far as i'm concerned they are the best SBF head on the market today.
Laterz......
