Ok I just aquired a 84 mustang 302 throtle body that hasnt run in a few years had to replace a few control censores to get it running but I am having idle problems it idles high.

there is a valve that has a rod coming out of it that pushes on the throtle that doesnt seem to be working it is connected to a vacum line that when unpluged the idle is fine how ever while driving the care dies at a stop. I was told this was an idle control valve how ever I am being told that the 84 doesnt come with and idle control valve and they didnt have them to 86 I was reading thru another post and say a pic of what some one said the new part looked like and that is not hwat it looks like. any help would be greatly apprecated.

I am new to mustangs and throttle body assemblies.

It sounds like your standard Idle Air Control motor. It pushes the throttle in and out to keep your car running at a smooth idle. If not working correctly you would get the spuddering sound like you are because your throttle is completely closed and your engine is gasping for air. The majority of the time you can take yours off and wash it down with brake cleaner and reinstall it and it should work like new. Sometimes it doesnt work and you do need new.
