View Full Version : Just call me Greg The Oscar's Cop

Been busy working on webstuff, forgot to post my exploits from Friday night. :D

I got to Oscar's kind of early, took the Cobra down there. Almost as soon as I got there, this kid with a clipboard and a pen walks up and says "Sir, you have 30 minutes and then you have to leave"
(Remember that phrase, because it would become the theme for the evening)

Anyway, I say "What happened to the other Oscar's cop, the one who didn't like ricerboys and let us all hang out?"

Reply: "He's gone. There's a NEW sheriff in town!"

So I figured me and this kid need to have a little talk... :hehe:
After some discussion and whatnot, I asked him what he drives, and replied that he has what he thinks is a 10-second bike. So I said "I bet you would like to take it to GLD, wouldn't you?"

"Of course I would!" he says...

I think you can guess the rest. :D

"How's about we make a little deal! You agree not to roust me and my friends and I'll leave a pass for you at GLD"

He readily agreed. Best part came later. He wanted to hang out by his biker friends, so I offered to take over his job. I'm serious. And so was he. He hands me the clipboard and the pen (which are supposed to be used to write down license plate #'s of people who don't comply with the request to leave)
and he walks away.
So now I'm having a blast. Walking up to everyone and saying in my best Oscar's Cop voice "Sir (or madam) you have thirty minutes and then you have to leave. Thirty minutes from..." and I point to my wrist which has no watch on it. "Thirty minutes from the time on my watch..."

Some of the import crowd started to show up. So I did my thing. Serious Voice "Young man, you and your friends have 30 minutes and then you must leave, it's policy now."

A bunch of them actually listened to me. They left. :thumbs_up

I kept going over by Sam and Tina and Mark and those guys... "Folks, you got thirty minutes"
That went on for about two hours. Finally the real cops came, and I was talking to the one officer, he was very friendly and I said "I have been keeping an eye on these kids officer!"

Between my stint as The Oscar's Cop and my cool MMA blue light, I had a lot of fun on Friday. :D

 LMAO Greg. Sounds like you had a blast  Besides, it isn't a "Neon" it's a 13 second SRT-4, and made in Illinois :p I wonder how blue "neons" would look under my "Neon" :thud: j/k of course :D Although that new yellow rumble bee and stripe from the old school cars now on a few trucks might not look too bad, kinda hard to cover up that up in the air stuff.

Heh Greg. I remember that I use to see get togethers on the old calenders. I don't see any yet. Are they listed somewhere else or just not posted yet. By "get togethers" I mean just a place for everyone to meet for the weekend or organized cruises or like a night at Oscar's to meet and greet the new "Sheriff" :worshippy :thumbs_up

The Oscar's deal is informal and not really a "scheduled event" per se; you can almost pretty much expect that on any given weekend, you will find people you know from many websites (MMA, CPG, BCM, BCSM, etc) hanging out at Oscar's or crusing The Highway. The Tuesday Night Wayne's shows do not start until after Memorial Day, and as of yet we really haven't been setting up any formal MMA gatherings. We do plan to take part in the Hotrod Power Tour, and we're in process of setting up an MMA Dyno Day. We have talked about doing the BBQ thing, perhaps even another campout like I setup last year, so there's time. NFL Spike is working on an event at the FAA Museum that could turn out to be huge.

We may setup our own "Summer Cruise" as well. :D

Stay tuned!

I just used to see areas like Fon du Lac and Green Bay having a regular scheduled get together like every other Tuesday to just hang out. Also I know they watch cruising on 100 but what are the "rules" for cruising? I know they used to watch how many times you would go by in a given time so all you had to do was stop every now and then but not everyone allows you to park somewhere. Where are the no hassle parking lots and what are the legal rules for cruising by the "cities finest"?

I think technically, if you pass by any "waypoint" (where the cop is sitting) more than 3 times in any 2 hour period, you can get a cruising ticket. At least that's how it is in greenfield/hales corners.

Also Greg, I've been looking forward to a Summer cruise for a long time. You're talking like a cruise along the backroads/countryside right? I've always wanted to do that with a big pack...usually it's just me and one other car but its still fun, would be even more fun with a nice pack.

I am not from those areas so I'm out of the loop as to what goes on, but nothing is stopping you from getting those things going. ;)

It's covered in the previous reply, but not to many people actually get busted for "cruising" so I would not worry about that too much.

Sorry I'm not Joel, but they work great. I only drive my car on perfect days but always run the drag radials out back & skinnies up front. It depends how much time you spend @ GLD as to how long they last. Shop around for the best price/ service.
