I have a t-5 in my car and do seldom hwy driving. I was wondering if 4.10's would be recomended. Many people with 5 speeds tend to go with 3.73's. Is there a reason or jsut preference and how much hwy driving is done?
thanks

Do you have or do you plan on adding a power adder?
For a basic bolt on N/A setup, 4.10's will give you alot of increase on the seat dyno!

I put in 3.73s because i am going with a power adder later on. They really woke the car up, but if i was staying naturally aspirated i would definitely go 4.10s. im not too worried about highway RPMs right now because i will be switching to a T-56 down the road as well, which should help keep the RPMs down at cruising speeds

I have 4.10's in my 86 and I love them!!!...HUGE seat of the pants difference over the 3.55's I had in the car. I have a tremec 5 spd. and my highway cruising rpms aren't bad at all. 70 is 27-2800 rpms and thats with a 26" tall rear tire...so its not like I am running huge tires or anything.... I think its definitely worth it...

I do plan on doing nitrous in the near future. My setup now is a 302 .040 over, edelbrock high rise alum intake, shortys w/ h pipe, holly 650 and msd. I also plan on doing heads shortly also. Just not sure what to do first. I want to run somewhere around a 100-150 shot. Still go with 4.10's?
thanks for all the help.

With the juice, and your 5 speed (even a C-4) you will probably be better off with 3.73's. Now if you had an AOD or an AODE, I would go with 4.10's...

I would go with the 3.73. But Check out this web site before you put them in. It will make you 3.73 act like 4.30. The website is ******************** This is a process that eliminates friction. It is used by NASCAR and many other racing organizations. I guarrantee you will be amazed. I just did a 96 Ford F250 and changed the ratio from 4.10 to 3.55 in this Turbo Diesel truck and lost no power or pick up dropping 22% in gear. Take 10 min. and check this site out.
