I have 89 mustang droptop.I think of doing the top myself to save the 400 they want to do it.5.0 resto says simple to do.with basic tools and general knowledge.Anyone done this worth my time or not.I work with cars all day and I'm sure ive taken apart more complex things then this but still concerened about doing it. Any help appreciated.

ask greg where he got that 89 conv. he used to have done at. I remember it was a good price. I have to get a new top on mine in the next few years also.

I did mine myself on my 88 vert in March of 97. Let me put it this way, I've rebuilt T5s, AOD's and 5.0s, I'm going to tackle a rear gear install soon and I'd rather do a 100 of each than do my own top again. What a PITA. Don't get me wrong mine turned out ok. I spent 3 days on it. Be sure to fold it in half the long way and mark the center line. Ask for the do it yourself instructions and read it cover to cover like 3 times before even trying it. The only part that never worked out for me was the rear corners. I just couldn't get them even and tight. I always had wrinkles back there. Be careful taking your old one off you'll need it as a template.
