Mine does that also, it's a bad blocker ring or synchro. Missed any gears?

no i havent really shifted it that hard. that tranny is only supposed to have about 3000 miles on it, but when i got the car the clutch was adjusted low so maybe that had something to do with it.

Mine down shifts hard as well. More so from 2nd to 1st. If you have an adjustable cable try adjusting it. If you don't have one....get one. It helped with mine.

I put all new blocker rings in mine this winter and it shifts like new. Blocker rings are only $12 each!!!

just out of curiosity what shifter are you guys running. I have the tri ax and I have no issues with downshifting at all with my tremec.

Shifter type is going to have nothing to do with downshifting. This is a pretty easy problem to understand/diagnose.
Been running tremecs for 9 years or so, when the synchros/blocker rings wear out, they start to get difficult to downshift or upshift for that matter. Tremecs are not like T5's, you can use the shorty Tremec shifter and not have any issues with it.

ok I was just curious cause I remember reading somewhere the the shifting problems people had with the tremecs were fixed when they switched from the pro 5.0 to the tri-ax.

Actually, Tremec recommends the Pro 5.0 shifter be installed on thier transmissions. I either found that on thier website, or in one of thier manuals.
