anybody know what rate the rear stock springs are in a V8 mustang.
I think they are around 250 lbs or is it more?

I think you're right, they may even be more around 225, but i found this link, it may not have just fox body rears, but it gives a lot of spring rates on it.

I read somewhere else that Fox body rears are: pt # rcs835v / rate = 174

Mark some info for you.I found this a few years ago when I was researching spring.
Stock spring for a 87-89 LX 5.0 W/ air conditioning:
.543" Wire
12.449" Free height (un-installed height with out weight on it)
9.5" Installed height
580# load rating
200# Drop rate (amount of weight to lower the spring 1" from installed height)
The closest spring I could find to match this was the RC8621 (196# drop rate)
I also tried a RV827 for 79-89 Saleen's, some 79-89 LX's or 85-6 Capri. It is a variable rate spring so it does not have ratings like a standard spring. It is much stiffer than the RC8621. Someone did some calcutations for me and it was something like 250# at 1" of drop from the installed height. Then at 2" it was just under like 350#.
I have the RV827 out of the car. I used them for about 200 miles and took them out. If you are going to RSD @GLD next week I can give them to you if you want to try different springs sometime.

thanks all the info helps.
I put a smaller diameter spring in my car, like a spring off a coilover, so I could have alot more options as far as spring selection & now I can adj ride hight with an adj spring perch. it looks like I need around a 300 lb spring to make the car sit good. the true test will be when I go to the track & test it out.

OK. What size inside diameter and length do you need? I have two sets of springs from a old rear coil over kit I had. I will check tonight to see what rating they are.
