Like the title says, I need a good battery that wont die on me while my car is sitting in storage. I have had it stored for the past 2 years and will remain in storage untill sept 2006. Each winter my battery has died on me and i now need a new one because the one i have wont hold a charge. Can anyone suggest a good battery that will hold a charge while its sitting? Is optima a good choice or should i look elsewhere. Also, being that i am in italy, Its tough for me to just stop by the local auto parts store to grab one, so i'll have to send somebody to pick one up. Where is a good place to get this battery for a good price? Preferably somewhere in the Oconomowoc/Waukesha area.
The battery is for a 1999 GT, driven seldomly but started once or twice every week or so.

Thanks for your help! :flg:

Red top optima will do wonders. 2 year storage life. I store mine every year and never had a problem with it.

I have a red top Optima. I got it from Farm and Fleet on HWY 18 in Brookfield. So far so good. I also take the battery out every winter and just put stable in the car and let it sit. Youre probably doing more harm by just starting it every week. Thats just my opinion though. If you were to start it and drive it and warm it up that would be better.

Yea its run for a few minutes to get everything working and running through it.
Do you have a part number on the battery? Im guessing there are several different sizes for different vehicles.
Thanks!

Gel Cell Optimas are the way to go IMO.

Ill get the part # off of mine today if I remember. The one I have is a little smaller than the stock Ford battery.
