Any one here have any experience running both 1.6 ratio and 1.7 ratio rollers on the same head. Like 1.6's on the intake and 1.7's on the exhaust? Any type of input in this area?

I have seen some guys run 1.7's on intakes on cylinders 1,4,5,8 and 1.6 on the rest of the valves, because those cylinders tend to run lean with some intakes on the small block ford...weather it worked or not I don't know...

See my problem is the alphabet cams aren't dual pattern and I want to run one of them with 1.6 intake and 1.7 exhaust. I want more lift on the exhuast side. I don't know everything about the cam fits what I need except for the fact that it isn't dual pattern.

Still good info....keep it comin

If you can justify buying a set of 1.7 rockers over buying a different cam then go for it. Playing around with rocker ratios is no different then advancing/retarding a cam, fine tuning a carb. or getting the distributor timing just right to make peak performance from your combo.

It all depends on your current exhaust port efficiency. Sometimes you'll make more power with 1.7's on the intake. Some combo's might like 1.7's on just the exhaust. Some might want 1.7's on both sides. You could see anywhere between 5-20 horsepower difference depending on how far off your cam is to the rest of your combo.

I would only swap rockers around if you can measure the results at the track or on a chassis dyno. Otherwise you'll still be guessing if 1.7's work unless your butt meter works better than mine.

I already currently have 1.7 rollers. They gave me something like .1 and 3mph in quarter off the stock cam. I also already have a cam lined up. I know cam knowledge and cams in general have come a long way, but I have been over and over the choices only to come back to this same stick because the lift is exaclty where I need it to be for the combo I am running and the dir is right on the money for my 1.7 rollers. The only problem is that the best cams on the market are dual pattern the way I would like it to be, but I can't find a cam that has the lift I am looking for along with the proper duration.
So like Dan said...putting the two ratios together would be a poor mans dual pattern (even though rollers arent' cheap), but the thoery is the same a dual pattern cam. Can this type of set up be used effectively?

Yeah I am in the process of purchasing a new Ford cam never used for 140, but the 1.6 rollers are a nother issue. I may be working on that with someone, but don't know yet for sure. I may not even go that route. I may just run the 1.7's straight across, but I am researching as much as I can before I actually do anything. I almost decided to run my factory cam again until I saw the condition of it when I took it out.

hundreds of times. They put my lift over what I need with my 1.7 rollers. Cam choices aren't a issue any more. This thread is more or less for rocker arm related info.
