View Full Version : Snakes or 5.0 emblems?

BlackLX

I just got a fender sprayed and I am puting it on soon.

Just curous if you'd go with the snakes or 5.0 emblems? I am leaning toward the snakes at this point just for a change.

Am I the only person that thinks that the cobra emblem is symbolic of Ford Performance, and that having them on your car is fine, as long as youre not actively trying to pass it off as a cobra?

By putting the badges on you are actively attempting to pass it off as a cobra. The badge signified certain traits and attrabutes that were specific to the higher powered engine in addition to the sleeker looks of the body. What business does a standard (I use that term loosly with all the modified GT's running around these days) GT have wearing a cobra badge? If the car had more of the cobra body trim, a cobra cam, cobra injection system, and cobra, or GT-40 for that matter, intake then I would say go for it. The fact of the matter is it just isn't a cobra or even a replica of a cobra @ this point. It would be like putting a Mach1 badge on my car cuz I do in fact really like how they look, but guess what....my car ain't no mach1 so how dumb do I look now??

......it's a nice car without the badges.

I say do whatever you like. Who cares what anyone else thinks, its your car. You build it, you drive it, you fix it. If you want to put cobra badges on it, cobra wheels, bullit wheels, svt badges, whatever that is your choice. I had cobra emblems and badges on my 91 LX and if someone would have asked me why I had those if its not a "real" cobra, I would have flat out said its my car and I wanted them there.

upngo50
07-11-2005, 01:25 PM
So youre telling me that it's OK that i put Cobra badges on my GT, if i have all the necessary cobra BS under the hood, and then it's ok? .

Yep, replicas are one thing, but flat out false advertising is another and by adding all the necessary BS, as you say which is part of what really makes a cobra a cobra, it holds some weight.

So what if i go and get myself a Mach powertrain and put it in my GT? Then having Mach badges is ok? .

Wrong body style so the replica theory would not be able to apply, therefore no not ok. In my own personal book it needs to be true to the period to be considered. I don't just go throwing around badges willy nilly now...

Sounds like youre a bit confused as to when it is and isnt alright to have these things. .

No not confused one bit...extra added badging of any type that does not hold true to form of what the car actually is performance wise to what that specific badge added actually represents.. to me would be considered rice regardless of brand.

No offense, just trying to have a lively discussion about it. .

None taken....ever. :D These are my opinions and imply nothing other than my own viewpoint.

I tihnk if you put a newer Mach motor into a fox body it would be
!. Cool as hell
2. Put the badges on it, its unique

Hell, people should do whatever they want - its their car that they are modifying...

What about my car - would I be justified putting cobra badges on it???

Oh really.... WELL then I say everyone that puts Cobra R wheels, Saleen and/or Steeda ground effects, Cobra bumpers and hoods are posers then too. What the hell is the difference. Some people are just too damn anal.

ok, i have cobra badges on my gt. just on the fender's. i dont have a cobra bumper (front/rear). i do have cobra 13 inch brakes though. the only reason i have the badges is simply because i like the snake. i wanted to get a tatoo of it, but decided not to do it. i like the bare look, but on sn95 you have a hole in the fender and i could not find a single badge that i liked other than the snake. now for those who cant tell the difference whether its a gt or fox, they may have bigger issues than my (posing) problem. i could afford a cobra no problem, but i dont want one so for those who wonder whether they should put on a snake badge or 5.0 badge that is just up to them as to their liking. also, i do get a lot of people that ask me if its a real cobra. i have never rubbed it off as being one. i didnt want to make myself look any cooler than having an actual "cobra". just my two cents. this was a good question, but i just do not like the fact that people quote saying your a poser by doing certain things to your car that they may not like.

It has Cobra rear, sides, rims and intake (on the way), Saleen spoiler, Stalker nose (to be put on soon), and a Spyder X9 hood also to be put on. I just like Cobra emblems better myself. I dont mind that my motor as of right now is mostly stock other than the 306 bottom end. Again, thats why I am gettin the Cobra intake because the stock one just sucks. I would like a Saleen/Vortech if anyone has one. K, thanks
