I am looking to make my car pull the wheels a little. How does that work with changing pinion angle. I honestly don't care if it pulls the wheels but I want it to pick up in the front some. Any ideas are appreciated! Thanks!

Mark you want no more than -3 degrees of pinion angle. Super easy to check...I have the tool to do it if you need it. I set up Joe's gutlass way back with -3 and that thing lifted the front right up after that.

The object of pinion angle is to get the angle to be zero degrees during acceleration. On the factory 4 link style suspensions in GM G Body and Mustangs the sweet spot is usually -1 to -1.5 degrees.

Thanx for sharing that info Darrell. Apparently Bob is to tight lipped to share any useful info over the internet I guess and only special people like Mark can bask in his almighty drivetrain knowledge. :worshippy :icon_moon

Mark James is a good friend, I just miss him. I don't know **** about pinion angle, but I thought I could use this as a ploy to get some attention.....

Seems like you already know what you are doing?

Hey Mark,
If you are looking for some good information on suspension set up, check out this website:
http://www.baselinesuspensions.com/info/Launching_A_Drag_Car.htm
I was told you should set the pinion angle different depending on wether or not you had all solid bushings, poly bushings, or factory rubber bushings.
solid bushings= -1 to -1.5
poly bushings= -2 to -3
factory bushings= -3 to -4
Do you have adjustable upper control arms?
I set mine by simply adjusting the driver side upper arm to the desired pinion angle, and then adjusting the passenger side upper arm so their was no pre-load(remove the bolt easily).

well I was going to say, set it at 87- 89 degs like I set mine at, on my black car. but since Marks car is mostly white, I didn't want to give him any good speed secrets.......

You, my good man, are on top of it!!! You've gotta know the bushing type before you set up the rear because it determines how much the axle rotates under launch. And i agree with those numbers.
