I was wondering heres my setup I have a stock 4.6 Gt with a offroad x-pipe and was wondering if I removed my mufflers will it hurt anything other than torque?
Motor is stock. Thanks in advance.

It'll be obnoxious loud, and yes, it will kill torque some.

Ya but will it wreck anything motor wise? nope - unless your tune gets thrown way off(if it was way off already) by it. but, I doubt that would happen.

You'll be fine, my buddy did this on his 98 GT, sounded good at idle and low rpms, but at wot, it was too loud. Be carefull around cops.

Other than sounding like complete redneck ass, it won't hurt anything.

take your tailpipes off instead. that way you arent losing as much backpressure and you will still have it loud. just chop the rest of the pipe off right past the muffler. Leave a few inches on there incase you want to put it back on. thats what I did, my car got twice as loud as before.

I have an uncatted x pipe and unless I'm at WOT it's not that loud.

You may have the uncatted X pipe but you need to ditch the mufflers too. If you have ditched the mufflers than you are officially in the "redneck ass" club. :rockon: :beer:

Is it a seat of the pants powerloss from open exhaust on the lowend power? Anybody running this system and having no problems.

<~~~~ 100% redneck ass. The Thunderbirds are the best for removing mufflers since they are at the end of the exhaust. I put on extension pipes. Doesnt sound bad, but they are louder and do resonate inside the cabin.

funny story I am a senior in high school and there is a junior at my school who did this for that exact reason people point and laugh at him everyday when he pulls into the parking lot yet he still thinks it makes him look cool and he thinks its awesome sounding, it sounds like someone farting into a megaphone that is an inch from your ear
