Hey guys-
It looks like I am finaaly going to bite the bullit this fall and go with a H/C/I combo.
I need cheap as it gets becuase I am still in school.
This is what I am planning:
Shaved/ported GT40p's for a bit more compression if i go back to the juice.
Explorer intake ported
and E-cam.
If I can find a recked explorer maybe I can get this stuff cheap? Let me know what you guys think and if you know of any other cheap and reliable/mild street set ups. Would like to go 12's if possible on motor.
Thanx
Mikey

Scan the classifieds of the big sites Mike, you might find a smokin' deal on some heads.
TFS stage I cam is a nice, streetable cam, look into it.

I would ditch that E cam to and get a TFS 1 as Greg said. Gt40's have alot of potential

sounds just like my combo. I'm happy with it. The e cam seems to perform well to me(allthough I have nothing else to compare it to) and I am happy. :D

DO you have a bigger MAF, TB, and injectors? If so...what size? WHat times did u run on the motor?

75mm MAF, 70mm throttle body and 24lb injectors. My best mph is 109.5. My best et is 12.82. There is alot of et left with that trap speed. My car sits real low (check my garage) and gets little weight transfer so traction has been a problem. And I also do not consider myself one of the better drivers out there.

You can't argue much with bad boy's combination and 109mph trap speed, however I would go with a 65mm throttle body over the 70mm. Don't forget gears and sticky tires, most guys go with 3.73's for a manual tranny and 4.10 with an auto.

Trick flow stage 1 cam is much better then the e cam. You could go the b cam route with 1.7 rollers. The b cam offers more dir than the e cam & with 1.7 rollers on a b cam you will have .516 in total lift. The e cam offers .498 lift with stock rockers. The e cam with 1.7 rollers would give you .529 in total lift.
The nicest thing about the TF stage 1 cam is that it is a dual pattern cam.
Anyone know what the max lift the p heads are good for? I know the stock E7s are good for .500

If possible don't get the heads milled at all. The already will give you more compression and you might run into other problesm if you do.

True, there is always something to break. I'd like to change my shocks and springs, bolt up some slicks and skinnies and see what my car could do. But I know something would go and I do not have money for repairs now.
However if your careful with your driving habits you shouldn't worry to much. My car is daily driven with no problem(knock on wood). I would stay on street tires and resist the urge to powershift as often as possible.

Go easy on third gear...

No second gear burnouts either
You will keep breaking the same 2 winged tabs under the 2 to 3 syncro & probably get stuck in one of the two gears. :thud: The replacement parts are 3 bucks yeah no big deal, but having to take you tranny out every week so you can tear it apart to replace them is a major pain in the azz.........
