Common problem ?????? No codes, tried cleaning I.A.C. & tried new I.A.C. with no change in results. Anyone have a cure ???? 2001 V-6 5speed car.
Thanks

It's that time of year for the V6. I see this in the spring and fall, where the idle stays up above 1500 for sometimes a minute or more even when the car is warmed up. Not sure why it does it but it does.

I remember hearing that this is an emmissions "feature". Kirk knows where this is. I would come off the highway at Dempster and go up Central. The idle would stay high up to the next light and sometimes longer. No amount of reving would stop it so I got used to it.

No known cure ????? That's just the way it is correct ??????
Thank-you
I believe it can be reduced through programming changes (chip or flasher).
Not a cheap solution.
"Sounds like you are describing the perfectly normal operation of the ECC. The computer will hold the idle slightly between gear changes for emissions reasons."
"Its normal for a stock 3.8. Its actually an emissions thing to keep from dumping too much unburnt fuel into the cats."
