Remember how i had trouble fighting Ford to fix my A/C on my `03 GT? Well they did fix it. Today i ran to Walgreens down the street to pick up some film, i decided on the way home to turn on the A/C. Worked fine and all, but when i pulled in the garage and shut her off, i heard a hissing noise coming from the front passenger side, i thought i had a flat, like a slow like in my front tire  I looked, the tire is fine and notice the noise is coming from the A/C. Is this normal, or do i have an obvious leak? The hissing lasted like 10 seconds and went away. i started the car back up and then turned the A/C on again, let it run for a few seconds and shut it off. Again hissing for ten seconds after the motor is off! I tried to feel for a leak, but i couldn't tell, the A/C line that runs parrell with the intake was ice cold but again i wasn't sure what i was looking for. Do i have a leak or is this normal since i don't use the A/C barely?
I have not used my AC in so long I don't have a clue.
Sorry.

You may be hearing the sound of the system "equalizing". There is a huge pressure differential between the high and low sides, what you hear may be the result of the pressure equalizing after the compressor is cut off. If you think you have a problem, bring it back while it is still covered.
FWIW, if you had a leak that was so bad you hear "hissing" you would lose all the refrigerant in a matter of less than a few minutes.

Thanx Greg, i'll keep using it to see if i run thru the fridgerant quickly, then bring it back to Ford if there's a problem. But, i'll probably won't drive it for the next 5 days on the account we are supposed to have rain for a week!! :thud: Tire's are too bald to drive in the rain.

Steve, my v6 used to make that same noise when I used the A/C and shut it off. I think if you turn off the A/C a min or two before shutting off the car, it will not do that, but either way I do believe it's normal, Greg explained it well.

Yep that ought to be normal, I've heard a hissing when I turn off the car after I've been running the AC. I've also heard it from the wifes car. Perfectly normal sound, I think you don't notice it so much unless you parked in a garage.
