I have a question on dyno tuning. Is it worth it? How much power will be gained? I called this local place (Dude's Performance) and they said it's $600 for a tune. They said that i get a new chip(Diablo Revelation) included in that $600. i already have a Diablo Sport Delta Chip that i paid too much for. It calibrated my speedo and only gave me 5.3rwhp and 12rwt. i was hoping for more. But if i get a dyno tune, will me current chip be useless? Do i have to take it as a loss and discard it for a tune? What route should i take?

Paul Svinicki will charge less and you don't need a chip Steve. I don't know how much he can find in a GT but you might want to give them a call. It's a hell of a long drive though... Your current chip would be removed I believe.
For that amount of money ($600) you can almost buy your own SCT interface...

I wouln'dt respend the $$$ if I was you. I have respent that $$$ numerous times on mods,,,,
Like Greg said if it is Paul (SCT) I would consider it, otherwise no way. SCT sets the standard.....................
SCT usually comes out this way atleast once a year for a Midwestfords dyno day and costs less. I have the predecessor to SCT (Fordchip) and was dynotuned. Excellent product.
At a dyno day you usually end up spending about $100 for dyno time over the chip/flash costs. In my opinion it was worth it to me. They fixed my AF ratio which sucked in stock form.

Does anyone know when SCT is coming in town to do dyno tunes?
I will see if I can find anything out.
Like Greg said Paul's High Performance in Jackson, MI is an SCT dealer.

What's the SCT interface?
Greg, what kind of number gains did you get from Paul's Performance? If it's worth it, i don't mind taking a trip to MI.
You can read about it at www.superchipscustom.com
Basically two of the top tuners in the country Jerry Wroblewski & Chris Johnson got together with Superchips to form their custom tuning division.
The major advantage they have is that they have the most extensive first hand knowledge of the Ford EEC.

Does anyone have physical numbers they can share that they gained from a dyno tune, i know Greg does :worshippy
I think mine gave me 12-15rwhp & about the same in torque.
Now part of those gains include some of the changes that a chip does. Advanced timing etc.

Will you lose the tune if you disconnect your battery?
No. If you get flashed it writes the program onto the EEC. A chip holds it in a similar way, just externaly.

Does anyone know where to get dyno tuned locally? Or would a flasher be a better idea?
The flasher is great. I have one now. I like it a lot better than the chip.

I like the flasher, but can't wait to upgrade to the extreme flasher - which allows you to change fuel, timing, limiters, etc...
I don't need to since I have the Pro Racer package and can make any changes now. :D
Did you just get the micro tuner with you tune on it?

I was supposed to get a flip chip, but ended up getting the flasher and USB(?) cable because the tuner wanted me to have them instead (I didn't pay any extra) so he could send me different files to try on the dyno. But after talking to Chris in St Louis I want either the Pro Racer or Extreme flasher - I honestly think the extreme flasher is what I need. The only thing I like about the pro racer is that I can change the MAF functions, which you can't do with the extreme - - I'll have to see (can upgrade at anytime).

What can a flasher do and not do?
A/F Ratio's? Timing? Turn off rear O2's?
If i go SCT, which flasher do i want???? :dunno:
Can i get more hp & trq. than what my chip gives me. Can your flasher be tuned on a dyno or do have to use somthing different?

With the flasher I have now (and the USB cable) I can be on a dyno in Wisconsin and my tuner in NC can change and send me files through email.
I'm not sure all what the "extreme" flasher can do - but you can change timing, fuel, etc with it for sure.
The stuff that kirk has can do anything that any tuner can do...
I found this on the extreme flasher.
You'll be able to adjust fuel and timing slightly, idle speeds, trans shifting pressure on autos, two step rev limiter for manuals, and other little adjustments.

This extreme flasher may have to be added to my wish list, thanx Kirk for the info :thumbs_up

I want to get headers next, but i worry that they are going to fry my starter. Can this happen on the 4.6? Has anyone had this experience? I want long tubes(Hooker), but shorties are still a possibility depends on my money situation.
