My 90 lx has the drip....has anyone here changed one with motor in place? It seams I could drop tranny and fly wheel and do it that way with out even jacking the motor up.Which seems the easiest way to do it but of course I could be wrong is the reson I am asking.I dont have a place to pull the motor out.Well I do but I am planning on building motor using another block and dont really want to pull this block out to fix a oil leak then do it all again when motor is done cause then I have to remove the blower and everything twice.Unless one of you guys near Great Lakes area has a place and willing to help..... I will supply the beer.I just want to get it on the track a few times this summer....Right now I would have to drive around with a case of oil in the back.

You can change it with the engine in the car, we just did this when we did my clutch.

Did you do it like I said? Just remove tranny and fly wheel.

Yup. Pops out with a pointed tool and the new one went in with the installer tool...

if you have trouble pulling it out with picks just thread in a couple small machine screws and pull those with pliers...works great
I always install mine with a few taps on a punch with a small hammer

There is a kit for 302's that has a great installer that forces the new seal over the crank without damaging it...

Is it the rear main ???? A lot of times I've seen it look the the main, but lots of times it's the back of the intake. Just a thought.

It came with the seal! It's just a plastic tube that goes inline with the crank and when it is pressed it forces the ew seal over the crank and into place, then you have to "finish" tapping it once the seal comes out of the installer all the way...

I just changed the intake and valve cover gaskets about 6 months ago.
Well I changed the seal today.I started at about noon thirty and finished up around 6:30pm...I still have a little work to do though.Install the drive shaft, tranny filter, gasket and fluid then a good once over I should be back on the road.I would have been done tonight but I had a hell of a time getting the H-Pipe off,and top bell housing bolts and I broke a stud off for the collector....whoo them top bell housing bolts to the block going back in you dont want to know how bad i wanted to kick them boys under the work bench and call it done.lol
I am not sure thats the only leak though..I am sure allot is residual from when blower supply line split..Just seemed like oil was every where down thereI am going to jack it up in the car wash booth and power spray it real good.Every gasket on the thing besides the head gaskets are new though...fel-pro all within the last year.I know intake isnt leaking because with tranny and fly wheel off back of the block is bone dry and nothing on bell housing. Before any one says it i agree yank motor out and build a srtoker I just have to wait a little longer to ensure funds allot me to build it right.
