Why does it seem impossible to find a-pillar gauge pods for foxbodies? I am looking for a 3 place pod. Does anyone know where to find one?

I don't know about a 3 gauge pod but Autometer makes 1 and 2 gauge pods for 79-93 Mustangs.

They may not make them Mike. My LX has a 2-guage pod...

Sweet, thank you Wayne and Joel. Exactly what I was looking for. On a side note, im sure its personal preference, but what you do guys think will look better? the 2 1/16th gauges or the 2 5/8th?

2 5/8" if you can get them. Bigger gauges are easier to read. Also, everyone knows that bigger gauges are faster.....especially the black faced gauges. :D

speaking of faster, where can I score some type r badges?

I'll see if I can get the guy in town here to part with his "GTR" badges on his 88 GT for you.

The 3 pod only comes in a 2 1/16. You can get a 2 5/8 in a 2 pod I belive.

I have both 2 1/16 and 2 5/8 in my car. I have a EGT and Water temp gauges on the A-pillar in 2 1/16. They are a bit harder to read but dont look to big and tacky. On my dash I have the Autometer Tach pod that hold the 5" tach and two 2 5/8 gauges which are my Fuel pressure and oil pressure, they are easier to read from a distance. It is a preferance and look thing so do what you think. What gauges do you plan on putting in??

Just FYI here is my gauge set up. I also use only electric gauges because I really dont trust running lines of coolant and oil in to the car and these gauges are more realistic then the stockers.

triple 2 5/8th pod right there...

For gauges, I was going to get water temp, oil pressure, fuel pressure, and then if I got the dash pod as well, boost/vac for the future, and maybe a pryometer, not really sure though on the last gauge.

Make sure you get the electric fuel pressure gauge, so you can race at the track. the mechanical with the isolator dosent work as well and I was told to avoid it.

Haven't you ever heard that phrase? When something is the "cats ass" or "the next best thing since sliced bread" that means they function very nice. :D

Yuppers. If you plan to run a FP gauge in the cockpit you have to use an electrical gauge anyway, unless you want to use one of those crappy isolators...

I must apologize Darrell, us youngins haven't heard such phrases before. You old guys...er wait, im sorry, you gentlemen with "lots of experience" have to spell out certain things like this to us young blood.

Anywho, I do like electrical gauges. I don't wish to have a mechanical fuel gauge, because Im not too big on the appearance of the gauge sitting outside the car, plus id be afraid of someone stealing it. :D

Here is a question: what would you guys choose for gauges? I would like to run boost in the future if I should ever come up with the money, so if you had 4 slots to work with, what gauges would you get?

- Water temp
- Oil pressure
- Fuel pressure
- Trans temp (if you have an automatic)

I agree with those selections, but to me, 4 isn't enough!

Boost and FP are obvious "must haves" with boost, but I also think a wideband O2 sensor and guage are also vital. I went way too long without one.

I have a manual car Darrell. Says so in my sig :hehe:

Anyway, im looking to have places for 5 gauges. Here is what I have come up with.

oil pressure
water temp
boost/vac (full sweep)
wideband o2 (any of you guys heard of the PLX wideband gauges?)
fuel pressure

this seems to have most of the vitals covered. can anyone think of anything else?

well jorge what do you think of the 2 5/8th on the a-pillar?

88Nightmare
01-05-2006, 05:26 PM
yeah im gonna get the full pillar. You think 2 1/16th will be ok for the pillar?

dufkis
01-05-2006, 06:21 PM
Like Dan said the smaller ones look better on the pillar

88Nightmare
01-06-2006, 02:47 PM
I think ill go with a 3 pod full pillar in the 2 1/16th, and a 2 or 3 pod vent gauge cage in the 2 5/8th.

JORGE
