Sounds like a good combo. What size are the chambers on the heads?.... How much dish on the pistons?...I helped a friend build a 393 many years ago and what we learned is that you really have to pay attention to these things or you will wind up with 11:1 and then cam timing becomes very critical or the engine will be detonation prone....

the pistons are the probe twisted wedge specific with -15.9, and the heads I ASSumed are 62cc by what they were stock. at 58cc and and a .040 head gasket, I wind up with 10.54. so after I get them checked for cc, and see if the heads or block need to be decked, I'll pick my head gasket. even 11-1 should be ok with an aluminum head and at least 91 octane? (93 is getting harder and harder to find anymore...)

was lookin at intakes... if I plan on making power from around 2500-6500, should I look more in to the rpm air gap style, rather then a vic jr?

Just make sure you get a good deal on the parts so when you sell them you dont lose too much money.

Sorry just had to. Good luck with this build.

Go with the Victor Jr...The rpm air gap is rated at 1500-6500 on a 351. You don't have a 351...

That's only a 6000 rpm camshaft @ 393ci, if that

haha, I know. this is whats actually gonna end up happening, even if it takes another 2 years to collect the parts.

as for the cam/intake.. thats why I was curious.. it seems like my power band would start lower, say around 2-2500, and the vic jr is rated for 3500? so thats why I was kinda wondering where to go. not looking for a high peak number, but a flat solid feel through the whole torque range
