My girlfriend just bought a 07 V-6 and she wants it a bit louder than stock. I wanted to know if anyone knows what will sound good with out spending huge cash? I also want to keep it single outlet so no dual conversions.

Those dang V-8's sound like rice. Not to mention they're a dime a dozen. I can barely distinguish the sound of a Mustang from a Toyota Tundra anymore lol :bash:

Seriously though, narrow minded opinions aside - I like the sound of my 4.0. It sounds better than my single port 3.8's did IMO. I've got a single '05 GT take off muffler and it sounds good. I dropped the car off at Ford for some service the other day and it turned some heads when the tech fired it up in the service bay and I was complimented on the car by one of the service writers.

My vote is for the GT muffler. It's cheap and an easy bolt on. I've got the left side muffler in my garage yet. I'm not sure if it's feasible to use it on the right side or not, but it's free for the taking if you want it.

I just had my car detailed and no one at the shop believed it was a six.

Also, VMP tuning and a couple of other decent sources show a solid 10rwhp gain with the single GT muffler. Dyno sheets to back it up. They showed an 11rwhp gain with no muffler at all, so the GT muffler really does flow well.

Where can I get the GT muffler from?

I just put a wtb ad out on a local forum and someone had just upgraded their mufflers so they gave them to me free. I had a couple other people offer pairs of them for $20.

VMP tuning and a couple of other places sell them for $80 as a pair which isn't a bad price considering you don't do "cat back" exhausts on S197's ... only swap the mufflers out. If you only want one muffler though, it might be better to buy a flowmaster or something comparable locally. I just don't know how that would sound.
