Are fuelrails, as they are constructed, neccessary to be in a ridged rail form? Or, could each injector be fed from a single fuel line coming from a manifold block?

The fuel rail helps keep the injectors in their hole. I don't see how you would get them to stay in if you don't use the fuel rail to keep them down. They are only held in by a couple O-rings and the fuel rail itself.

Fabbing retaining bracket(s) won't be a problem. However, the intake I'm designing is wide and the horizontal rail pipes are in the way.
