Heat and the automatic transmission:

Should you get an external transmission cooler on your car?
According to Jerry W. "An ideal temperature for the transmission to run is in the 160 - 180 F range. For every 20 of increase
in transmission fluid temp above 170, the life of the fluid is cut in half."

Also the best type of cooler is a Stacked Plate design, not the fin & tube type.
