I'll stick this here 'cause it's a 6.

I was up visiting my buddy in London, ON on the weekend. He was telling me about a problem with his truck. When you push in the clutch it will rev up for a second or so and then idle really rough like it's going to stall. The CEL is on and when he had it scanned it said it had a lean condition. When in gear driving it seems fine.

My thought: The IAC is sticking open so at first when the throttle closes, no load, the engine revs up but starved for fuel 'cause the TPS says throttle is closed it ends up in a lean idle. He's gonna check and clean the IAC.

Any other ideas?

That sounds like a good place to start.

Tell you buddy to use a little engine oil on it after its clean, itll help free it up if its stuck. Then to check if the shaft moves, leave it plugged in but removed from the engine, have someone turn the key on(engine off) and off a few times while he watches the shaft. If it still doesnt move, the motor might be shot and youll need a new IAC module. I just fixed an escort with the same problem yesterday. Hope this was helpful.
